Ranked Choice Voting Event Draws Advocates from Across Pennsylvania
So far, just in 2021, according to Fairvote.org, 30 Ranked Choice Voting bills have already been proposed across the country, including in Pennsylvania. And the movement to bring Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) to PA is gaining momentum.
On Saturday, March 20th, 50 RCV advocates and interested PA residents joined our What, Why, How: Ranked Choice Voting in Pennsylvania event. Our RCV committee walked attendees through the details of RCV and how it benefits all of us. Our team explained RCV by way of food, showing how RCV works using Chicken Tikka Masala, Tofu Stroganoff, and Turkey Sandwhiches as examples.
Here’s a great visualization of the process, created by MarchOnHarrisburg RCV team member Armin Samii.
We spent the rest of the event strategizing and organizing, forming working groups that are the core of our grassroots RCV movement: Policy & Research, Social Media & Design, Outreach & Volunteer Onboarding, Endorsements & Speaker Bureau, and Communications & LTE’s. Check out descriptions of each team here!
You can plug into any of these teams at any time - see our events calendar for upcoming meetings. RSVP to any of the meetings to get the Zoom info.
If you were unable to attend the March 20 event and want to better understand RCV and our strategy for bringing RCV to Pennsylvania, you can watch the replay here.
Ranked Choice Voting is one of the pillars of our 23-policy Money Out, People In Policy Platform. These policies, though not exhaustive, offer a policy pathway to becoming a shining example for democracy, and ensuring that every Pennsylvanian has a dignified and meaningful voice in government regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, or wealth.
Additionally, we have an incredible fundraising opportunity! All new monthly recurring donations will be matched 10:1 by a generous donor. Help us bring RCV to PA and achieve our other pro-democracy policy goals by making a recurring donation here.
